Following the correct aftercare is highly recommended to keep your extensions in the best possible condition. Not following aftercare instructions will result in your hair becoming dry and damaged.

Pre Application

Wash your hair with clarifying shampoo to get rid of any build up and do not condition your natural hair as this can cause the system to slip once fitted. Make sure your hair is straight ready for fitting.

Maintenance

The system may feel strange when first fitted. Tightness and itching are common symptoms and should subside after a few days. Hair Integration Systems must be maintained and tightened every 4 weeks by your qualifie hair loss specialist, and removed and re-aligned every 4-6 weeks. This is absolutely vital to ensure the quality of the hair is kept and no damage is done to your own hair. The top piece of your system has a lifespan of 3-6 months, so will need replacing after this time. Make sure that you check all costs with your specialist before going ahead with the system.  Your specialist will advise if you need to re-tape or re-bond the front of the systems between appointments as lifting can sometimes occur after washing or sweating.

Washing, Drying and Styling

DO NOT wash your system for the first 3 days after application. Be very careful and gentle with your system when washing. Only use products recommended by Naomi Swinn, only sulphate and paraben free products are recommended as some other products can cause the hair to become dry, damage and shorten the lifespan. We do not recommend hair oils to be placed near the root of the system as these can cause the hair system to slide, just use these products on the ends of your hair.

Try not to wash the hair more than twice a week as this can cause extra stress to the system. When washing the system, do not rub but gently stroke the products into the hair and rinse. Only apply conditioner from the middle to the ends of the hair and gently press the moisture out of the extensions with a towel after washing.

You must ensure he hair system is dried completely with a hairdryer. Never let the hair air dry as this can cause matting. You must always style the hair in a loose plait at night to avoid tangling. Heat appliances such as straighteners, hairdryer and curing tongs can be used with heat protection but over use of heat can cause breakage.

Brushing and Separating

Always ensure you use a wide tooth comb, hair extension brush or tangle teaser to prevent the hair system from slipping. Be gentle, especially when wet, and hold the tops of the extensions whilst brushing. Natural hair sheds every day so it is vital the hair is brushed properly to avoid matting as much as possible. It is still common, however, for matting to occur at the root of your hair where the system is placed. Naomi Swinn will remove this before reapplying.

Colouring Hair

We do not recommend you colour or chemically change the hair system as the lifespan of the hair will be shortened. Please revisit Naomi Swinn if you would like to change the colour.

Holidays, Swimming AND Sun Beds

We do not recommend you go swimming whilst wearing the system, although if you must, make sure you plait the hair to avoid matting and try and keep the system as dry as possible. Use a deep conditioning treatment if they do get wet with chlorine or salt water as these can dry out the hair or cause them to be discoloured. UV rays and suncream can fade or discolour extensions as well as dry out the hair, so if using a sun bed, wrap the hair in a towel.
